Howdy all!
I hope you are all as excited, energized, and ready for another fantastic year of school as I am! Some of you may think that I am crazy to be excited already, but it’s true! Getting to work with all of your kids and seeing the great success that comes out of our class is all the motivation I need to get me pumped up for a great year. For those of y’all that don’t know me, my name is Mr. Powell, I am teaching Computer Maintenance, Principles of Information Technology and Video Game Design. I also coach our Tiger Robotics and SkillsUSA teams as well as the after school Game Design club. I love teaching and I love sharing my knowledge and experiences with our students. I hope to instill a passion for learning and to show an innovative and “out of the box” approach to problem solving and troubleshooting that will promote skills that our students can carry with them for life. I have been working hard to provide the most rigorous curriculum possible in Information Technology and I hope that we can offer many opportunities that will help our students beyond the classroom. We are certified as technical dual credit in all of our programs which include Computer Maintenance, Telecommunications & Networking and Webpage Design. Students can work towards internationally recognized A+, Network+ and now Security+ certifications as well as work on many hands on projects that will give them the edge over many similar programs in the state and nation. I look forward to meeting everyone who is new to the program. Parent involvement is a very strong asset and something that I rely on. If you have not already parents, if you can please email me with Parent Contact as the subject and your students name and class in the body along with any information about your student you would like me to know! This year promises to be a challenging year, but I have high hopes and I know that through it all, we will learn, grow, and have fun times. I am in the process of setting up a class website for my tech classes @ amchstech.weebly.com students and parents are encouraged to check it regularly for news and updates on what is happening in class. I also have one exciting announcement for my students I want everyone to be aware of. This July (2017) I am taking a group of students to Costa Rica. I had already made this opportunity available to my tech students this year, but wanted to extend the opportunity to my new kiddos. The informational/registration meeting will be September 9th @ 6:00 PM in either the lecture hall or my room(TBD). This is a great opportunity for our tech students and I've worked with the tour company to secure a really competitive travel rate. If you think you can attend this meeting let me know so I can order pizza! If you have questions about anything or need to contact me for any reason, please feel free to email me any time. Sincerely, Patrick Powell ([email protected])
